i would have to say that there is no such thing as free lunch becouse there is someone paying for it one way or another, nothing in this world is free no matter what
I agree with the statement that says," There is no such thing as a free lunch." Firstly, the production of that lunch had to have a cost at some point. Whether it was from our tax dollars,or from someone else's pocket money, the point is...it wasnt free. Also, if there was such a thing as a free lunch, most naturally would food companies run out of business. They are not getting any income from " free promotions. "
When the term free comes up, it means you receive something without paying for it or giving something back. Essentially, that "free lunch" will be payed for in some way. No one wants a business that gives no profit in return. So, therefore it would be rare to find a "free lunch" out there.
hell no !! free lunch is just an allusion . I dont buy all the cheap tricks and good stuff. if lunch was actually free ? Our economy would be worse, there would be a shortage of food because consumers could have as much as they want when they want it and how they want it. Taxes are incorporated into food, therefore, are not free. You never come across a fast food joint or restaurant that says "come on in, you have all you can eat with no charge."
Businesses would not make any money if there was free lunch. If people were to get free lunch, food would be scarced. Because there is nothing free in this world, "there is no such thing as a free lunch", is a statement that means everything has a price, paid for or not. Taxes play a big part in the economy. The money that is used for buying lunches is used for production.

Is anything in life ever “free”? I don’t believe so because someone will eventually pay and it may not even be you. The question has come up: Is lunch really free? And to that I say TINSTAAFL (There is no such thing as a free lunch). Many people blindly assume that simply because you do not pay for school lunch then it must be free. They are sadly mistaken though because at some point in time the food that you consumed will be paid for whether the money comes from taxpayer dollars or anywhere else. Therefore the “free” in free lunch takes a whole other meaning.
When someone says that something is “free” they that they didn’t have to pay for it. But, this doesn’t mean that it will not be paid for in the future because what kind of business would that be? The word “free”, nowadays, has basically lost all of its meaning because it is misleading people everywhere. People should instead pay for the lunch so that other people don’t have to unless they absolutely can’t. This is scarcity at its best because people don’t care that they don’t pay they just want “free stuff”. -Miguel De La Torre

When we hear the word "free"everyone seems to get all exited and jumpy, thinking things in life are free. Could be food, books, cloths ect. My point? people are just blinded by the word "free". Some one must of had worked to create what evers been given out for "free" and that person had to been payed to make it correct?. In a bussiness you need employees to work together to creat whatever has to be made. These workers need to get payed, honest who works for free?
I absolutely and strongly agree with the T.N.S.T.A.A.F.L. (there is no such thing as a free lunch), in a matter of fact i knw that nothing in this world is free!. Children,teens,adults and parents are able to get a free lunch or meal from a place were they help people in need to our local school. Resent mothers are been helped by the govermment with programs such as (w.i.c) that provides cupons for food, free milk and baby formula. But everything that they are getting we as tax payers are paing every single penny of it. do you ever wonder why we gotta pay for our car's license plates? there you are basically payin for the right to drive in a freeway or street. We students think our education is compleetly free. But its not thanks to all the home owners around our district that pay their s taxes, is how we get out education. whit that money the district is available to pay for books, desks, books, and other school materials. Yes, I agree with the saying, “There is no such thing as a free lunch”. Yes, we are getting “free lunch” but really someone else is paying for it. Nothing is ever free in life, and even though someone might tell you it is, you’ll end up paying for it in the near future. Personally, I rather pay for my own lunch, then to be lied to and be told that its free.

In life nothing is free and though you may not see a transfer of wealth there is always something of value being traded between the buyer and producer. Free lunch is the same way though the kids that are recieving are not paying anything and would most likely say that there is such thing as a free lunch, it is simply because they arent the ones seeing the transfer of money. That duty is placed upon the tax paying population and it is a duty that is now costing people their wages. Teachers such as you are now having to give up five days from your work schedual in order for California to take care of these people that need the free lunch.
It is because of hard working people such as you that these kids even have the oppurtonity to have a free lunch. The money that you are putting in these kids stomachs is causing you to lose out oppurtonities that you could have taken up perhaps a new car or anything. These are the economic sacrifices that we need to make in order foe kids to have their so called free lunch.
There is really no such thing as a free lunch because somewhere, somehow that lunch is paid for. While it may be free of cost to the consumer, it is not free of cost to the manufacturers. Taking the example of “free” cheeseburger lunches in schools, the disregarded cost will be analyzed. First off, workers were paid to prepare those food items by their manufacturing company, and more were paid to oversee the wrapping process and the conveyor belts full of buns and patties or whatever the case may be for any other food item. Also, the company in charge of producing the wrapper of that food must have paid for the changing of natural resources into the processed wrapping material. The cost is carried onto the buyer (in this case, the school district) which pays in full for those lunches and gives them to students for free. The manufacturing companies pass down their costs and then some to consumers in order to create profit.
The only reason anything can be free in a market economy is because the cost is paid for by another party. And even then, the phrase “paid for” implies that there is a cost to the meal, which makes it only free to the consumer who is receiving it. There can be such a thing as a free lunch, but only to a certain extent, as somewhere down the line the cost of manufacturing and marketing must be paid for. Thus, it depends on whether you are the consumer or the entrepreneur, as to whether or not there is such a thing as a “free lunch”. Either way, the cost is covered somewhere along the line, and at the end of that line, the consumer finds a meal that can be enjoyed free of direct payment, and the manufacturers have their costs covered and (usually) a profit.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch", this is very true in my opinion. I agree there is no "free lunch" since someone is actually paying for that free meal. Hence, that it is not free, athough, you may have recieved it for free the person who gave it to you, and spend their money for that for free lunch. Since, the everything cost money: the food, electricity, cooking objects, etc. That shows how someone has to pay for what it costs to make it, that u can not get something for free (TINSTAAFI). Production is the result of land, capital, and labor,which this "free lunch" is a product.
So in resut, that disproves that a product which is the metaphor for the "free lunch" cannot be free. Even in school the free lunch it is being paid by taxes which is being paid by the us by the money that we give to the government. Then of course one may say that if we get it is free, so its free but when in fact that its not. Since someone down the line actually paid for the free lunch it no longer is free. So lunch can not be considered free, so I agree that the quote is correct. So this shows how even something that may seem free in fact is not.
I completely agree, there is NO such thing as a free lunch. The term "free" can be correctly used when referring to the consumer who didn't have to use their own cash to purchase it, but absolutely nothing is free. It may be free of cost from the person receiving it, but someone had to pay for it somehow. It's paid by either our tax money or from any other source, the point being it cost money at some point. I don't believe anyone would simply provide all this food for nothing in exchange. They somehow manage to receive profit or just the mere credit of "giving away free food to students" can lead their profit rates rise while the public is fooled to believe that they are aiding a community in need. A food company, instead of paying their taxes, can give away the equal amount of tax money owed in food supply to students & look good for their generous "donation".
People are convinced to believe that they are receiving a free product or service when in reality they are just a part of a marketing scheme. On the other hand, if a person is receiving a free lunch from a friend, colleague, or business partner, they're bound to receive new expanded business opportunities or merely friendship, but something is received in return. A great example that " they're is no such thing of a free lunch" is a person contributing to a panhandler. One is inclined to believe that the money is just given away freely but truth is, its most likely that the person has contributed for self gratification. Although most of the time the rewards are not monetary for a free lunch, some sort of compensation is received eventually or consecutively. Bottom line being, you can't get "something for nothing".

I too believe that there is no such thing as ‘free lunch.’ Advertisements like to use catchy words that sound nice to convince consumers, and lure them in. However people do not seem to put the pieces together and use common sense that one way or another the goods in which they receive must be paid for somehow. Society is very naive. They don’t seem to realize that taxes being deducted from their hard work every hour goes to these ‘free’ goods.
Every single person that lives in our Country is obligated to pay taxes. It is what keeps this destined Country running. The money is supposed to be put to good use making our economy more beneficial. Some people try to cheat the government and avoid paying their dues, so when they receive this ‘free’ lunch, it may be free to them, but one way or another someone somewhere is paying for it. Free lunch is designed to provide for those who cannot pay upfront, they receive, yet some way they are contributing to themselves. It is nice to think that ‘free’ things in general exist, but it would be impossible to provide and keep our economy stable with things just being handed out; someone would be taking the wrath for the materials needed..

no nothin in this world is free every little thing is paid with our income tax
No, the people pay taxes which what pays for our "free" lunches. So the word "free" in free lunches isn’t free at all, its just us getting our moneys worth. Its good to see the taxes we pay are being put to good use. Though it does question me about if their spending are tax money in the right places. During regular school year they only allow low-income wage families to receive free lunch not all students like they do during the summer. So are we really getting our moneys worth? And is our money really going to the right places?
These “free” lunches only usually apply to all students during summer but not during the school year. I think its not right , all parents at la sierra pay taxes. So all students should get the right to “free” lunch, we pay for it right? So if most students don’t get free lunch during the year then where does the rest of the money go? Obviously not to the teachers because most are losing there job, not to transportation because we don’t have buses and not to sport because a lot of budget cuts were done on sports? These thoughts come to mind, from our “free” lunches if there really free or not.
No I agree to disagree; nothing is free. You might say well the students who don’t pay for their school lunch get free food, but actually there are a number of costs before receiving that lunch. Just because there is no monetary value doesn’t mean it is free, there are other factors that require some sort of cost; it can be physical, mental, etc. Another factor that proves that there is no such thing as free lunch are the people paying the taxes that support the free lunch program. Another factor would be signing up and getting accepted or eligible for the free lunch program.
I agree with the saying that there is no such thing as a free lunch. You are paying for your lunch no matter what. The people that do get free lunch have it paid by our tax dollars. They are still technically paying for their lunch, but since their families are listed in the category of "free lunch" they receive that luxury of saying that their lunch is for free. But in reality, nothing in this world is for free. Somebody, somewhere, had to have paid for that food that is being labeled in the free lunch category.
Personally I would rather be in a position to be able to buy my own lunch then to be in the free lunch category. This is because the people that do receive free lunch are obviously having troubles making ends meet. Some of the cause might be because of the great recession that we are going through. Maybe, a child’s lunch is least of the parents’ worries. However, I would rather pay for my school lunch then have financial problems in my home.

I believe that the statement above is completely true because nothing in life is truly free. Although the consumer may not actually have to pay for the product, there is still a great amount of money going in to manufacturing that product. Take free lunches at school as an example. While it’s true that the student receiving the school lunch doesn’t have to pay, the businesses that manufacture the school lunch have to pay the farms for growing the certain crops and animals. Also, a great amount of money is required in order to help maintain the crops and the animals. If you think about it, no company would be willing to spend all this money simply to hand out free lunches. In this case, companies make their profit from the schools, who provide the money in exchange for the lunches, and then offer these lunches for free to those students who come from low income families.
Not only that, but we forget to consider that taxpayers also play a major role in these “free lunches”. Although we may not pay for it ourselves, the money has to come from somewhere. This is because if a business were to simply hand out its products for free, it would most likely go bankrupt due to the fact that it’s spending more money than it’s actually making. In other words, a portion of this money is taken from the taxpayers. Therefore, “free lunches” are only free to a certain extent. A great amount of money goes in to producing these items and making the right amount of profit on them in order to lower the price (or make them free) for certain people.

I definitely agree with the statement “There is no such thing as a free lunch”. No matter what is said to be “free” it’s technically never completely free. For example, our school can say we all receive free lunch during summer school but that does not mean it doesn’t cost our parents anything. Truth is that while we are told we are given things for free, we are actually being fooled. Whether the money comes out of our parents’ pockets to give to us to pay for lunch or it is given to us for “free” at our school, our parents end up giving up some of their money.
Through the taxes that our parents pay at the end of each year or other economic uses, the meals that are said to be free do eventually get paid. People can claim they give things for free all the time but it isn’t REALLY free. Perhaps the cost of a lunch may have less quality and therefore less value from that of a lunch that we actually have to pay for but it all ends up being equivalent. The businesses that produce the foods that are supposedly given for free have to make money somehow hence the food is definitely not given to schools for no cost at all. The money has to come from somewhere and that place is most likely our own family’s pockets.

I strongly agree with the statement “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” for various reasons. Whether it is directly or indirectly everybody pays for all these “free” goodies. If there were really things out there that were free, businesses would go bankrupt. In most cases companies raise the price on one item to obtain the revenue for the “free” product. People are just amazed when they see the word free that they don’t realize that in essence they are still paying for that product.
Take for example our cafeteria at our own school. There are several students that receive “free” lunch. In this case our parents’ taxes pay for that. Companies know that when people see the word free it will make them a costumer. Then they would most likely return to buy more of their products. Is there such a thing as a free lunch? i dont belive thier is such a thing as a free lunch or anything for free especially now in days. yes, it may seem that we get fool because we are not paying at that moment but in reality sooner or later someone is payiing it or that our parents who pays taxes. when we registered for school they make us fill out a paper for free lunch and if we have the requirements then we dont pay but yet others do. if youk think about it if something is lent sooner or later it has to bve returned like taxes. our free education and so on it is all worth money which our parents or our self have to pay back. the place where we get our food, they dont do it for free they work and expect to get paid.

There is no question about it, there is no such thing as a free lunch (TINSTAFL). Everything, including lunch, is eventually paid for. It may not be paid by you directly but in some way shape or form it is paid for by someone. Let’s take the instance of free lunch given by public schools to students; it isn’t paid for by the students or their parents, who is it paid by then? The company who produces the food has to sell it to someone; they wouldn’t just give it away. Where would the economic gain in that be? The lunches are bought by the school from the food company.
The school used part of their budget to purchase a necessary item for students. Where do the schools get their money from? The state. Where does the state get their money from? Tax payers. Who paid for the lunches then if not the school? The tax payers bought the lunches, its all part of a cycle. This economic cycle is why there can never be such a thing as a free lunch because it is inevitable that if something is produced it will be paid for.

In this world that we live in nothing, sadly, is ever free. This especially goes for the so called "free lunch". "There is no such thing as free lunch is a popular adage communicating the idea that it is impossible to get something for nothing". No matter what somebody will eventually pay for the expenses made because of the free lunch, even if the cost may be hidden. The federal food program has to pay for the food that is provided at school lunches. That money comes from American tax payers.
When you think of free you generally think that the product will come to you with no one's struggle to pay for it. That free lunch will get paid for in one way or another. Businesses would not be happy if they ran their company, worked their butt's off, and didn't get paid for it. In conclusion, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

And also that the benefits of having free lunch is no more different than paying without free lunch.When u have free lunch that is mainly because you or your parents pay a fee or you can say a certain amount of money for your lunch. Unfortunate in some schools the food is free but then you are demanded other certain objects. For example you may have to pay for uniforms and way to many other necessities that are even more expensive. I completely agree with the statement above. Reason being; someone has to pay for production costs. Although the selected item may be priceless to the consumer, in the process of its production, workers need to get paid and the transportation to get the "food" to its specified location costs gas money, etc. This is where the whole TINSTAAFL (there is no such thing as a free lunch) theory comes in. Honestly, people are merely blinded by the thought and sound of something being "free". For example, Costco. They give away little samples for the customers to get a little taste of their products but in reality, it costs COSTCO money to provide the samples. Its a way to boost their sales like advertisement.
Also, the money for our "free" school lunches get pulled out of our parents taxes. Taxes make the world go round and benefit our economy to better itself in the longrun. Everyone has to pay them, disregarding the whole FREE idea. Nothing in life is ever really free. Someone somewhere ends up paying for it in someway.

The statement would be true, there is definitely no such thing as a free lunch. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program that provides low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. Because it is federally assisted, the government actually helps pay for the “free” food using tax dollars or farmers’ surplus. The program itself costs billions of dollars per fiscal year and has been since the 1980s. Even if money wasn’t a factor, the farmer’s surplus would still be deducted. This means that the labor, energy, and time spent in making the food (livestock, produce, etc.) would not be rightfully compensated. You can’t have things that are free; “something” can’t be bought with “nothing.” There has to be an equivalent exchange.
If you’re serving over 30.5 millions kids per day and everyone received a “free lunch”, then the national debt would increase by $53,375,000 a day. Even with that being only 1.3% of the daily average added on, it’s still too much for the average person to handle PER DAY. It could be eons before we see a national surplus big enough to give an actual free lunch to every student for a whole year. This is something that probably all Americans would love to see because it would show that a real change has been made to better the country. With all the things happening right now, it seems that a free lunch is out of the question, just until the national debt and all obstacles prior are rid of. Being extremely unlikely, this is why there is no such thing as a free lunch.

There are quite several implications both economical and political resulting from the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. First and foremost, the economical issues resulting from this disaster are very significant in the sense that many people are losing their jobs, companies are being shutdown, and eventually gas prices will rise which will affect a majority of the citizens living in the U.S. Not only though is the oil spill affecting employment but the cost for cleaning it up is also very expensive, hence BP is demanded to pay $20 Billion for the cleanup and costs. Economically speaking, I think we’ll see and feel the affect nationwide a lot more in the long run due to the fact that we still have a current average amount of oil in gas companies and the affect of the oil being lost won’t hit the companies until several months after this disaster. When we do see the gas prices rise, the economy will probably be widely affected because so many people are already unemployed and paying for their gas will be too expensive.
Even though the common people worry most about what the oil spill will do to the economy, this disaster will also affect politics. Many politicians rely on oil as their source of support from the people but if Obama’s plan of beginning energy efficient technology to replace oil does come into hand, politicians will be massively affected by it. What will then politicians sustain their campaign on? Not only campaigns are related to oil though, all oil industry has a lot to do with politics and since this disaster began the government has been looked upon as corrupt because of their close involvement with Oil.
